Last Call 🤝 June Coffee

21 Pilots, Mansion in Wiscansin, Dirty Soda, Woodfin Has Conditions

Good morning Birmingham!

We have got quite the weekend ahead of us! We were so torn on the event of the week, that we added two honorable mentions. But when the Coca-Cola Amphitheater announces a sold out show, it’s hard not to put them at the top. No matter your music style, there is definitely something for everyone this weekend.

We also changed up the business feature this week. We want to do a better job featuring the small businesses in our city, so let us know what you think of the new format! And send us any businesses you want featured in the future.

Let’s get to it.

Could your business use a boost? Advertise with us. Find out more here.

🥤 South Fizz Soda

OG subscribers to the Scoop will remember that we featured this business a while back. BUT, we got our first taste in person this past weekend and let me just say, it was even better than I expected! So we had to feature them again.

They describe themselves as “Classic soda, but better. A fizzy fusion of sparkling sodas, creamy swirls, bold syrups, and unexpected flavors. Turning every sip into a memorable experience.” Check out some of their popular sodas below:

Maybe those aren’t your style, but the best part is that you can completely customize your own soda! You can choose between Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Coke, and Root Beer for your base - add some sweet or sour syrups depending on your mood - maybe throw some flavored cream or marshmellow to add that rich, decadent flavor - and then finish off with your preferred toppings like sprinkles or cinnamon. The only limit is your creativity!

Here’s the catch. You have to follow them on instagram or tiktok to see where they pop up next! They post their schedule regularly so make sure to keep an eye out for they’ll be next. And if you come across them, give them a shot and tell them we sent you!

🚰  Mayor Woodfin Gives Conditions to Birmingham Water Works
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin has outlined conditions that must be met before he and the city council will support Central Alabama Water's application for a $183 million state loan to replace lead and leaking pipes in the city's water infrastructure. Woodfin's conditions include cutting spending on outside legal services, avoiding another water rate increase for Birmingham families, and ensuring genuine opportunities for minority-owned contractors. The loan would come through the Alabama Drinking Water Authority's revolving fund, but the state has also asked the city to honor the loan terms if Birmingham's ongoing lawsuit challenging the transition from Birmingham Water Works to Central Alabama Water prevails. More
