🏀 UAB's Bartow Arena Getting a Glow-Up After 37 Years

UAB's Bartow Arena is finally getting the makeover it's been not-so-patiently waiting for! The 37-year-old venue just scored a $14.6 million renovation budget that promises to transform it from "functional but tired" to "the place to be seen courtside." Think fancy club lounges, sparkly new lighting, and restrooms that don't make you question your life choices. The arena's getting everything from expanded lobbies to upgraded seating - because apparently sitting uncomfortably while watching basketball isn't the full fan experience anymore. Construction kicks off after Spring 2026 graduation, assuming they can actually raise all that money first!

🍴 Birmingham Restaurant Week is Back to Make Your Pants Tighter (Again)

Birmingham's favorite excuse to eat your feelings is celebrating its 15th year! For 10 glorious days, local restaurants are serving up special prix-fixe menus from $5 to $50, so you can sample everything from fancy fine dining to food truck magic without breaking the bank. It's basically a marathon of deliciousness that supports local businesses and fights food insecurity - because nothing says community spirit like bonding over really good food.

🐔 Raising Cane's Finally Decides Birmingham Deserves Good Chicken Fingers

The chicken finger gods have smiled upon Birmingham! Raising Cane's is officially opening their first Magic City location in Spring 2026 on Highway 280, where the beloved Lloyd's Restaurant used to be. Get ready for cult-level chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, and that mysterious Cane's sauce that people travel states for. It's only the second Alabama location (Tuscaloosa got there first, obviously), so prepare for some serious lines when those golden tenders start flying.
