🎄 Christmas in November 🍂

Holiday Markets, Comedy Show, Coffee & Cocktails, Michelin Restaurants, and More!

Good morning Birmingham!

I’m a big cheerleader for Birmingham in general. I think it’s a unique combination of being a big city without being too big. And I firmly believe it’s got the potential to be even better!

When I tell people outsiders about the Magic City, one thing that inevitably comes up is the crazy amount of high quality restaurants and bars we have! So many James Beard award winners and nominees. But somehow, we’ve yet to have a restaurant earn a Michelin star which is shocking. However, we had 12 restaurants in this foodie city get recognized by Michelin (article below), so maybe we are on the verge of getting our first Michelin star. It would be long overdue in my opinion.

Let’s get to it.

Pink Lantern

Get ready for Birmingham's most anticipated dual-concept debut! Pink Lantern throws open its doors for a soft opening on November 8 at 2400 1st Avenue North, where downtown's newest hotspot promises to revolutionize your morning coffee ritual and transform into an electrifying cocktail destination by night. After nearly three years of meticulous planning, partners Clay Freeman and Danny Le are finally unveiling their vibrant vision—a space where authentic Vietnamese coffee culture collides with sophisticated nightlife under one show-stopping pink roof.

Bar manager Ashley Williams—who made waves at Birmingham favorites Carrigan's, The Essential, and Mayawell—is unleashing her talent for unexpected flavor combinations on Pink Lantern's cocktail menu. Meanwhile, Le channels his Vietnamese roots into traditional drip coffee elevated with inventive toppings like silky pandan cold foam. The space itself is a feast for the eyes, packed with carefully curated vintage mid-century treasures and an abundance of lush greenery from Le's own collection.

By day, sink into the aroma of authentic Vietnamese coffee paired with fresh pastries from Irondale's beloved Sunshine Bakery. But when 4 PM hits, magic happens: pink lights flood the space, disco balls sparkle to life, and the furniture shifts to create an instant dance floor for live entertainment. Sip on showstoppers like the dragonfruit-kissed Pink Lantern cocktail or the espresso martini-meets-Midsummer Night featuring house-made Vietnamese coffee. This isn't just another bar—it's Birmingham's newest all-day destination. Experience the soft opening this Saturday!
